Oh yes. She's incredibly good with them. A completely different approach to me. She is a backyard keeper but they free range in her yard. Her eldest hen a Swedish breed died last year at 16 years old! She has another Swedish breed who is now 12 or 13 years old.
They are strictly pets although she likes the eggs.

Those are amazing ages for chickens! She must know what she's doing for sure.

She makes her own feed, has a mobile coop, has for a period of time let them roost in a tree. She's lucky in having an excellent avian vet close by but he's not cheap.
The hen who died last year had arthritis and the temper to go with it. She would still fly at my sister if she tried to help her into the coop at night.
She has one that escapes a lot and goes next door and sits on the living room window sill next door. The problem is the women next door doesn't like anything that flaps wings:gig
My sister ended up making a Hi Vis saddle coat for this hen so she would be easier to find.
However, she's had nothing but trouble with her Silkies. She writes that she thinks they're a bit thick.:lau

I loved "To Kill A Mockingbird" movie & book. In the movie Boo Radley was played by a young Robert Duvall. What great actor he turned out to be.

"The Green Mile," movie - great actors - my favorite, the late .Michael Clarke Duncan. He was nominated for an Oscar.

Meanwhile, mine all have the most basic, boring names imaginable :lau
I name mine whatever word tends to come out of my mouth the most when I'm near them. That's lead to one cockerel gaining the name King Dummypants. (He slept outside. On the ground. Repeatedly.)

What do you have now?
Sorry, had an emergency! My golden buff hen hung herself by the toe on the deck chair! Broke the hell out of it. Had to rescue her from upside down, soak in Epsom salts and blue Cote it. Then the splint...she favors it and is holding wings out from her body slightly. But back to foraging, etc. Thinking I need to keep her inside in a padded cage for tonite.

Anyhoo. We have 3 RIRs, 2 Golden Buffs (sex link) a Dominique and an Andalusian.
