BYC Café

Are you getting a lot of rain right now Becca? Hope there's no danger of flooding.

I just came in from checking on the chickens. Their feeder sits on a big 4-5" high block of concrete, it was totally covered so had to dig it out. The only reason I could find their waterer was because it has a warmer in it and that had a melted ring of snow at the base. To get to the nesting boxes required a trip through a thigh-high snow drift.

So glad to get another cup of hot coffee when I got back in! And I brewed another pot for anyone else wanting/needing some!

Would it be mean to tell you it's been up to 76° and sunny today? I had to put on shorts!
Sorry folks with snow!

Nice! I want to be more self sufficient or sustainable or whatever but I don’t think I’m quite ready yet. I do have chickens for eggs and grow my own vegetables but I also still eat tons of processed foods and rarely even eat vegetables or cook  we have a ton of stores and restaurants and all kinds of things super close to hear so I usually still eat junk or eat out or whatever. Like I go to Subway, Panera Bread, Five Guys, etc. a lot and/or eat sandwiches. I think I’m too used to having so much here. I think I need to start eating more veggies and cooking more first hah

I’m just located too far from being able to indulge in any of that. I haven’t had fast food since last month traveling from Evansville to sell my eggs.

Thanks, I'll try some out. I don't have many of the spices etc. I used to have and made my own 'paste'. The pre-made paste I like are called Pataks.

I know it's cheating but I detest cooking and have to do it at least twice a day. How horrid is that!:rant:lau
Very horrid! I have only just started to enjoy cooking now that I'm retired. Some of those recipes will make enough food to have more than 1 meal too!

I've always loved baking, but the daily grind of putting 2 - 3 meals on the table for me alone was completely absurd. Who has time to work 10 hours a day, do all the chores/animal tasks and cook then clean up? Now I enjoy spoiling hubs and will spend the time.
