BYC Café

The Great Eastward Chicken Pilgrimage occurred last night. After roosting time so I left the brooder light on for them all night to learn the lay of the land.
I didn't get the door closed to the old coop in time this morning and some of the girls made it in there to lay. But two of them left their rent payment in the new nest box!

I'd call that a chicken mansion.:)

He’s gonna get his pills regularly now. He was on just an as needed basis but once every 3 days as per vet recommendation. On another note, parents and sister are up and at em. DB is still in bed believing the world is ending.
Glad the family is on the mend! I bet you're glad too! I'm betting that old Boxer will have a new lease on life with the new schedule of meds. Good job, buddy!

Thanks for the video.
I know it's all in my head. My problem is the feel of the needle going into the skin and if the animal reacts at all, that makes it worse for me. I need to practice jabbing the needle through something that will replicate her skin so I know what to expect without practicing on her.
Just be sure to locate her spine and place the needle parallel to it, about 3/4 inch above it.

I used to take a stuffed toy cat in to do my client teaching for fluids. They could get comfortable with the needle and fluid bag handling and then practice to their hearts content with the toy kitty. Then we would get their kitty and a sterile bag of fluids and I walked them through it for real. My clients never left feeling inadequate to the task.

If you want my phone number I will PM it to you, I will be there for you if you need me.

Tired! So I'm grateful for the caffeine.
I have the coop 90% done but still have the entire run to build.

You're an amazing lady. I could put something together, but not like your coop! You have inspired me to think about painting the inside of mine though. I've been mulling over new paint for the outside as well. I'd like some color!

Well thank you very much! I may be tired and I'm certainly sick of Fabio flogging me, but I really enjoyed the work!
Remember, I'm a former house flipper so it's very hard for me NOT to paint the finished product.
I think you should go for it and post the before and after pictures.

Good morning Cafe.
Seems everyone is having animal issues.
Fabio has escalated his poor behavior over my construction activities. Yesterday he flogged me (again) by jumping at me under a cast aluminum chair. He came out of that sans one of his back toe claws. Got blood all over my pant leg and the piece of trim I had in my hands.
My cat, Mogwai, has not eaten all weekend. I've been syringing a little sugar water with B complex vitamins into her throughout the weekend to keep her from dehydrating. Now I'm waiting for the vet to open so I can get her the usual appointment for SubQ fluids, cerenia and B-complex injections to try to get her back on track. She does this several times a year. We've done blood work and there is no apparent reason for it.
She'll be 17 on June 5 so I really can't complain. She's still got her strength as she fought me good enough to get a foot out of her mummy wrap and sink a claw in my finger.

I hope everyone has a great day no matter what is on your plate today!
:( I hope your cat recovers.
