I'm still struggling placing people in the USA. I used to think that Texas for example was a big state.

Texas is a big state! I'm in AZ, Phoenix basically. We are about 110F for the highs yesterday, today and tomorrow. Very dry so I have a mister on for the chickens with fan blowing into the coop through the door.

It's no good. I keep going to look at the introductions thread thinking I'll do my bit to make people feel welcome and I see the chicken mama post. I just want to give these people a slap. There is no way you can be a chicken mama unless you laid the eggs, sat on them and hatched them.
Yeah I know it's just a manner of speak but it's indicative of the attitude they will have towards the chickens and it's likely to end in tears.
Rant over.:p

What makes me even more mad is the peeps that introduce themselves and a week or two later, are crying for help, their losing chicks or full grown birds because the didn't do any research before they decided, usually on a whim, to get some 'cute' chicks. :barnie
If that's not bad enough, then they won't listen to sound advice, from folks that really care about helping them to provide medical care or support for their diseased bird(s). Just makes me want to :rant:he:barnie:mad:
My rants over!

Hey, we got to vent sometimes, otherwise we'd be crying right along with'em. If I find out by questioning them, that they don't have the basic skills or knowledge to provide for them adequately...I won't sell my birds to them, even after they have showed up to pick them up! I get really tired of educating peeps on the care of the birds they want to get, they can do some research for themselves, if they truly want to gain knowledge about the birds they want. Again, rant over....I think? :lau

I feel that way often but, if I can't be civil, I just don't answer. Sometimes I wait till several others have replied, and just do a basic welcome at the end. I know they will ignore any advice that goes against their mantra.

This is why I stay out of there...sometimes I want to :smackthose people. I'm not perfect by any stretch but I researched a lot before I bought my cute little chicks on a whim before my coop was built :p

Made a fresh pot of coffee, help yourselves.

Just got home from the park, the puppies will be snoring soon. Frank defended the old girl from a big dog today and the other dog's owners were a bit irritated...I said hey your dog attacked mine and she's in his pack. No blood and I pulled him off so get over it.

Off to do the grocery shopping, have a great day all.

Just call me 'Mr Even Keeled'. :lau There is a fine line between ignorance and abuse. Also misinformation is worse than no information. Lately I have been running into someone who insists on displaying their ignorance with an air of authority. :barnie

Well, I guess I just joined the 'venters' or 'grouchy old men club'. :rant
