BYC Café

Click "My Coop" link and it will take you there.
I fear now that I will be all alone in the Cafe for hours while I await the return of all my friends who are interested in perusing that monstrosity I wrote...
I just thought I would mention that when the dig here gets hard (I've got proper digging tools) I use an impact drill with a chisel. I also have a concrete breaker but it's heavy.
The ground is very hard in places here.

Raining here too. I think the ranch will be under quarantine tonight... vesicular stomatitis is what I think a horse has here. We will see what the vet has to say. Not my horse, not my bill, but still my quarantine, sigh. At least I do not have a horse pack trip scheduled!

Ag heez, I'm sorry to hear it Margie. Hoping for good news!

Afternoon Cafe
Just made a fresh pot of coffee, if anyone is interested!

I made the apple fritters to go with

Yea I saw your post about it in your signature. I'll read it tonight. Thanks for sharing! I'm seriously thinking about enclosing the yard that has my coops in it for more flexibility.

I really like having that extra level of security. The only thing I really worry about are hawks. I see them nearly every day. But the chickens really like their run and the "chicken bush" and only wander the pen for about 1-2 hours in the morning and again in the evening. Maybe a little longer in the spring and fall.

Now you tell me.

The neighbor who will be building my stone walls texted me about some dappled willow he had access to. I'm pulling out the Princess holly and blue point juniper hedge row I installed between our houses. It run adjacent to the drainage trench that ran for months last fall, winter and this spring. All the holly drowned.
You can plant dappled willow in concrete and it will thrive. And it grows like a chick only a lot bigger!! It will make a much better privacy hedge.
He got these plants for about $5 each. They are normally $25. I also got a knock out rose, elderberry bush, hydrangea tree, Alberta spruce, a "variegated something or other" (I believe that is the Latin name) and some hardy hibiscus. For $100 total!! SCORE!!

Another funny story as I was talking to the neighbor... I LOVE these neighbors, HATE their dogs. The dogs that attacked Ben, the other neighbors cat, growled at Dad and DH and killed Bunny, my EE. Those dogs.
Well, he told me one morning when he was walking the dogs, Jake, the larger of the two heathens and the killer of Bunny, lifted his leg and peed on my electric fence. And yessiree, got a hell of a punch to his man parts!! :lau:gig  (There really aren't enough emoticons to express the glee I felt at the learning of this information!)
