I didn't speak to my father for almost 40 years. Circumstances and a lot of encouragement from my then partner meant we met and talked; he was 82 then. We had a lot of contact for about three months. I spent a couple of hours with him most evenings for those months. I can't say I got to like the man but I came to understand him better and he I.
I am the only member of my family that took this opportunity and I'm glad I did. The rest of the family still view him as a monster and struggle with memories of their childhood and early teens. I think I'm the only one who his ghost doesn't haunt.;)
He died a couple of years later.

Tough road for many of us as our parents aged live with Ma and her husband Wayne lat year he was alive she needed the help that was a tough year Glad I was around then..

It's great that dealt with it while he was alive Shad. My father is too self centered to bother trying to fix things in life. I suspect he would be the same in death. He won't haunt me, I don't think about him any more.

I would give my left arm to talk to my ma right about now. It's coming up on two months since she's passed. I know everyone's situations are different, but regret sure is a killer. I wish you much luck with your ma, IM and Roomy.

My husband and I are celebrating 8 yrs today. Had a hell of a thunderstorm come through and he was headed for the hills to check on our cows. Lightning strike has started a whopper not far from where we pasture them. Hopefully, not in the middle of it. Also hoping when I get off work that we can grab a beer and our 3 girls and head for the pond for a swim.

I've heard of three fires started so far from this storm, which happened about two hours ago. Another (human caused) fire was started last Friday and is now at 4600 acres and 0% contained. Tis the season :barnie

The trip north I was to take last week was delayed to today. What a beautiful drive through the wine country in the Finger Lakes region. We went up between Cayuga and Seneca and back down the west side of Seneca.
This is the marina off the southern tip of Seneca.

And one of my favorite wineries on the west side of Seneca.

Happy anniversary Meg and many, many more. Hope all your cattle are fine. We get lots of lightning strikes here I guess because I live on the side of a tall hill and there's a tall television broadcast tower on the top to attract them.
