You all are such enablers!
@KDOGG331, it took me 8 days to break Astrid, my Australorp. She is now godmother to the chicks! Barb lets her come over and hang around the family. (I hope Astrid doesn't get any ideas.)
I could send you some of my fertile eggs. Fabio's evil seed could populate the planet. :lol:

They really are!! :lau

And oh wow that’s a long time!! One time my Buff Orpington Penny literally went broody like 5 or 6 times in one year. 5 times just since April of that year. :lau I sadly lost her to a hawk in the fall of 2017 :hit she was my favorite hen. So sweet. Anyway, she never took very long to break, usually only a few days in the wire cage broody buster, and was never nasty or anything, was very sweet and let me pick her up off the nest and very nice and gentle in the cage and everything. She was a great bird. The sweetest, friendliest little thing. If she went broody again in the spring, I was actually going to let her hatch chicks, but then she got taken by the hawk. :hit but anyway, she never took very long to break but she was clearly VERY insistent about becoming a mother!! LOL

I came home to a broody Australorp so now I’m kinda thinking about not breaking her and letting her hatch some eggs. :lau :oops:
Setting all the eggs can be exciting but dangerous! If you have very good hatches you can be over run by birds!

@DobieLover

Oh and I almost forgot, that is adorable that she’s become part of their little family :lau :love

And as long as Fabio (or his offspring) can help scare this fox off, I’ll gladly take one. :lau judging by the vicious little biting monster you have now, I don’t think it will be a problem. :lau anything would be scared of that one :lau

At some point over the course of me owning chickens the following transformation occurred...
I went to put the garbage can down to the end of the driveway yesterday and inside the can was a box that had not been broken down. And why was it in the garbage can instead of the recycling bin? So I took it out to break it down and the smell hit me. This was the box I had put some rotten meat in that I drove out into the woods to leave for some critter to eat. The box had maggots writhing around in it. Instead of cringing and immediately dropping it back in the can I said to DH "Hey! I could feed these to the chickens!"
As my daughter says so well, "ewww "
Lol

:lau you are on fire with these memes!!

Thankfully I don’t have a rooster so have to find fertile eggs so keeping it under control shouldn’t be too much of a problem. :lau

BUT.

I just remembered that my uncles neighbor has a farm and he’s very nice and probably has tons of fertile eggs so I may have a steady source so this could be a problem... :lau

Yes, I do! I couldn't break her. I was not encouraging her.
Mom and the godmother.
