You all are such enablers!
@KDOGG331, it took me 8 days to break Astrid, my Australorp. She is now godmother to the chicks! Barb lets her come over and hang around the family. (I hope Astrid doesn't get any ideas.)
I could send you some of my fertile eggs. Fabio's evil seed could populate the planet.![]()
They really are!!
And oh wow that’s a long time!! One time my Buff Orpington Penny literally went broody like 5 or 6 times in one year. 5 times just since April of that year.
I sadly lost her to a hawk in the fall of 2017
she was my favorite hen. So sweet. Anyway, she never took very long to break, usually only a few days in the wire cage broody buster, and was never nasty or anything, was very sweet and let me pick her up off the nest and very nice and gentle in the cage and everything. She was a great bird. The sweetest, friendliest little thing. If she went broody again in the spring, I was actually going to let her hatch chicks, but then she got taken by the hawk.
but anyway, she never took very long to break but she was clearly VERY insistent about becoming a mother!! LOL
