Either Knock is producing the strangest sounding farts or she has chicks.:p
It's going to be very interesting to see how her rooster Notch behaves.
He roosts with Knock and since Knock has been sitting he has been very reluctant to enter the coop at night and makes those coo cooing nesting sounds when he goes to roost.
Knock's been pretty good and hasn't sworn at him much but now with chicks, well we will see. There is room for with the rest of his tribe in another coop if necessary.
On the hunt for small dishes for food and water which I meant to get more of but forgot the last time I was in the village.:he
Lots of cloud arrived and the wind smells wet so we may get some rain at last.

We have had coyotes cruising by every morning, but the chickens seem to have learned to not leave safety until the two-leggeds come out of the big nest. We also had a sweet looking goshawk perch and take a peek before flying off. They have not been a problem so far for us, fingers crossed. I think they have lots of normal prey. Good luck today everyone and enjoy the beautiful day!

Pffttt, that's the last place to use precious resources.

Yes, yes it is!

I think I've found a potential problem with having multiple roosters with regard to egg fertility. I'm working on the article now.
It goes against the rooster to hen ratio so often cited.
I wish I was a better record keeper.:he

I'm definitely interested in this subject. Can't wait to read your article.

What a sweet boy, I hope Knock doesn't give Notch the boot. Congratulations to the new parents. You too of course!

Most hens will get off the nest once a day to eat, drink, poop and dust bath.
Some hens you need to physically take off the nest, or they become weak and parasite infested. Basically, you need to check and act accordingly.
If you do take her off the nest you need to make sure she comes out of the broody trance and moves around. Sometimes when you lift them off the eggs they just stay in the trance, squatting on the ground, partially wake and go straight back to their eggs. You need to make sure this doesn't happen.
Mark the eggs she already has and remove any that her friends contribute.;)

Thanks! This is really helpful! So far she seems to be doing it on her own. Was out dustbathing when I went out this morning.
