Hey Shad quite a few years ago our Village set the state record for - 32 Below 0
I can tell you no ones car started - nobody went anywhere. Thank goodness the electric didn't go out. And we had gas heat.

Usually we don't go much below 0 - maybe -10-12 degrees. Your eyelashes freeze - weird feeling outside.

BTW house is brick usually keep it at 65F at night to save $$$$. Even at that temp heat rises and upstairs bedrooms are around 80F

Morning Dobie! How are you doing this morning?
I guess I must be depressed. I have zero motivation to go to work. I'll have the line gutted today and will have no more reason to stay in Endicott. The finality of the company closure and this chapter in my life coming to a close is harder than I expected it to be.
On a positive note, the fire blazing in my stove sure is cozy.

I always had 0 motivation to go work but, it disappeared when I closed my grooming shop and had my show & breeding kennel. The dogs could cheer anyone up especially since they knew I was bringing breakfast. After that I would clean up the feed pans and then the runs. I'd take a short nap and bring out the water bowls. I didn't want them eating and then tanking up on water at the same time.

They had the swinging dog doors, so went out/came in when they felt like it. By the time I had enough money saved to fence the entire yard, they didn't care for it. Too old :hit

Very understandable, feeling down. Endings and change are difficult. Be kind to yourself today. :hugs

That's a lot warmer than I expected.

I've been thinking on this some more. When you asked about the living room, that's what I gave you an answer to. But each room in this little chopped up house is different.

There's no heat in the bathroom so it's always cold. The attached porch has single pane windows on 3 sides, they all let in the wind (I've actually put tape on some of them because of the gaps) and there's no heat on the porch. The porch opens onto the kitchen (no door) so that keeps the kitchen chilly (unless the oven is on which can make it hot in that room). The 3 exterior doors aren't solid, they're fitted with hollow core interior doors that don't fit well so you could see daylight around the edges if I didn't shove towels around those gaps. None of the main house windows fit well so they all rattle in the wind.

So there you have it, a leaky, creaky old place with too many issues to list. And I'm freaking cold! (And perhaps a tad cranky about it :gig )

I don't blame you for being a tad cranky about it. I get cranky at anything below 50F over an extended period.:D
The first winter I lived in this house I attempted to find out what temperature I could keep the central portion of the house at when it hit minus centigrade numbers outside. I think the lowest temperature I had at night was -6C (21F).
It was reasonably easy to heat the portion at a four metre radius to 85F.
The bedroom stays cooler mainly because there is a window permanently open there and I like to sleep at temperatures around 18C to 20C.

Thanks for giving me a pass on the crankiness. I promise it is fleeting

I think it's nice to sleep in a cooler room too. What we have now is just a bit too much. Phew, 21* at night is more than just a bit too much.
