We are dealing with no heat :barnielast night I told husband that I was very cold and I realized that the heater is not working.

Someone is on their way to hopefully fix it and husbands boss told him to leave early so that he can take care of me.
Our heater went out last winter(Central air natural gas). It would up being the flame inducer fan. I fixed it myself but it took me some time to figure it out!

Electrical in houses is one thing we never mess with. I've heard bad stories from a friend who works with HVAC systems. He has been electrocuted a few times.
He was shocked. Electrocuted is dead by electric shock traditionally. It does appear that the meaning is changing though

This was just a loose wire  I don't touch wiring and the electrician said that's the smart thing to do.

Feel incompetent when I have to call people to fix things. Usually we do it ourselves.

Actually, electrocuted does (did?) mean death and not just injury.
That is the thing about language, definitions change over time. Since I am getting older, I am sometimes surprised by the new meanings
