@DobieLover I forgot to respond about the stuffies. Our beagle destroys them instantly and ruins it for everyone else. We still have a puppy and she loves stuffies. We put her stuffies in her kennel so no one touches them. She's had the same stuffy since she was 8 weeks old, she sleeps cuddled next to it every night.

We buy more rugged toys for everyone else. We got fused leather toys from TSC and those so far have lasted the longest. The beagle did chew off some of it, but they've definitely defeated her 😂

My Ruby doesn't play with toys, unless it's a squeaky chicken, and those she destroys in about a day constantly biting and making them squeak. For this reason, I've never allowed her near my real chickens!!! Every time I have someone babysit my animals I come home to a new Ruby toy, which just lays in the yard. I tell them Ruby doesn't play with toys, but they keep bringing them. haha If you toss a ball, she might go pick it up for a minute, or even just look at it, but she is not going to bring it back to you. No way. You threw it, you go get it. :lau

Good morning! Sunny with 75mph winds coming in, they say. It was almost 50F yesterday but I think we will be back down in the teens when the sun sets.
Wrestling dual tonight for the entertainment. DS$ is having fun this year with the competition because his coach signed up for some tougher teams. His face is looking
"handsome." ;)
Thanks for the coffee!

Morning Margie, sounds like you need to batten down the hatches! Glad to hear DS$ is having a good time...best of luck to him with the wrestling tonight.

Lucy the beagle just likes to destroy everyone else's things.

We also have a saying with her... "Kill the babies"

This is her saying because every time there are baby chicks or anything that is a baby she tries to kill it. I'm shocked that she didn't try to kill the puppy when we brought her home 😂

When my husband flushed out that mouse the other night she grabbed it and squished it until it stopped squeaking then dropped it. It's pretty much what she does with toys too, she destroys them until they squeak no longer then she doesn't want them.

@ValerieJ I also want to add that Lucy was a hunting beagle that was an outdoor dog that no one really paid attention to because the whole I have a dog thing wore off. She really didn't know how to interact with people or with other dogs.

She is 7 years old and she was 3 when I got her, she just learned how to bay and play. People don't realize that dogs require attention and socialization, I always feel so bad for her because she is just an awkward dog.

She is my favorite dog though and I give her a ton of attention. I think that the pack understands why I give her so much attention.

That's sounds like Ruby. haha But, even though she doesn't play with toys much, and wont retrieve, she is not lazy. She runs like a greyhound around this place. If we had been the ones to name her she would be called Tigger, because she's a very happy bouncy girl.

We have a lab pit mix that had a broken foot before she was born and it healed funky. We call it her funny foot... We thought that it would bother her, but that dog runs so fast!

The vets told us that it might start bothering her as she gets older, but she just turned 4 years old and we have not seen any difference.

That is so sweet. I'm glad you were able to bring her into the fold and give her a better life! Ruby is a rescue too. I don't know her history, but it's obvious she wasn't socialized with animals or people, and there are signs of abuse. Someone just dumped her on a country road. She stayed there, where they dropped her, for 10 days waiting for them to come back. No one could get near her. So, the local shelter trapped her and brought her in. She hasn't been easy, and stretches my patience even today, but she is a joyful dog now. Her eyes were dark and brooding when we brought her home 5 years ago, but they are bright, happy and full of love now.

Since it happened before birth, she doesn't know any better. I hope it doesn't eventually bother her, but I'm sure the vet will have a remedy or solution for it when the time comes.
