bon fire..........

plus the ashes can be put in your compost pile....

Yes we do this every year. I fill it with all the downed and pruned tree limbs and light it over where we grow our garden. Gives the garden a nice boost. I usually do not do that until April though, right before good Friday so I can plant my potatoes.
We had a large tree fall this fall though (right on top of DH old combine

), so I may need to have more then one.

Just a little ice so far, could be worse.
Hope it don't get as bad as they say it might.

Been thinkin' 'bout you folks. While the temperature here has been colder than was forecast just a few days ago, what little precip has fallen seems to have mostly evaporated on the way down. No complaints from me!

We had 5 inches yesterday, light powdery stuff with absolutely no moisture in it. Next summer project is going to put some bricks down right outside the barn. It is currently a couple inches of ice, all the animal and my tromping over it, it is fairly gross and very slick. It also faces to the north, so never thaws. Maybe a bit of brick will help, at least give me something to sand/salt.

You won't be participating in the new reality show, "Farm Folk on Ice?" How disappointing!

If we did it would have to be a comedy. Shhhh, I mean really how many broken down machines does my yard really need ;)

Just post a big sign that says ' used parts yard' make sure that people can see it from the road.

Lol do not encourage me! Truth though, DH is pretty good at getting rid of stuff if someone is willing to take it. He has a kid that comes and hauls any old metal to sell for scrap and last winter he sold a kid an old tractor for a shop project. The real trick is getting rid of it without FIL noticing (because that stuff increases in value if it is left outside for years and years)
