Stay warm.

Scott, sorry for all the ice.
makes getting to the animals a misery.
I hope all are warm and watered.

Scott, I hope today goes better. Losing power and all that ice sure makes things complicated, take care & stay warm.

Good morning! Scott, Glad you got your power back before it got too late! I did not sleep very well, DH was gone. But he is home now, and brought home breakfast! Hope everyone has a great day!
Thank You Ladies for the warm and kind thoughts!

OFW glad your hubs made it home. BB, we are supposed to hit 40s this week. That will be so nice. (can't believe I'm wishing for 40s lol)

Dudley dog woke me up at 4:30 this morning, standing smack dab in the middle of my chest! Crazy dog.

I need more coffee...

Sorry about that, some of the 'multi' didn't quote like I wanted

We have a screen door (1/4" hardware cloth) with a lock on our bedroom and also the normal solid door. Looks a bit strange, but it keeps cats and other critters on the side of the door that we want them on at any certain time. It slows down those repeat visits at '0' dark thirty.
Thanks for the warm thoughts!

Please if anyone knows anything about refreshing a stinky run, Boy do I need some help!

Smells like one of those wet compost piles. I wanted to barf and bring all the ladies inside so they didn't have to smell it either!

They love it

! But it has got to go, that smell! Does anyone know how to get rid of the smell? The run has a cover on it and I could take it off for a bit but if it rains again ewww all over again I fear.

I heard lime or oyster shell but don't know how much.

Anyone?

Or is there a better way? I am pretty sure baking soda wont do it.

The run has been up for 5 years now and I turn it put some wood ash in and more leaves and grass each spring but this time oh buddy.

I don't know if it would help but, I've heard of several folks using something called "stall dri" used for horses. I think it's supposed to leave a better fragrance. Maybe dumping some coarse construction type sand would help dry it out also.

Thank you DD,
Got my Google on tonight and what I am reading is that sand is the key. they say construction grade gives plenty of grit for a lifetime too.

I realized this is the first year I have had it covered and we had a lot of rain this fall but with the piles of yard stuff I put in there for them to pick through it just kept the under side damp. I think anyway.

I think I will see what I can find for sand
but sadly it will have to wait a bit Till the money starts to flow again.

That Stall Dri sounds like the old cat litter.
would that clump in the crop? I mean we have mostly clay here anyway
More googling

Thanks again DD

I have some hope!

Thank you De'BB,
do you think it would be ok on the dirt?
here is a pic of my stinky mess.

IT did have loads and loads and months of yard waste as well as 2 bales of hay this year. It cuts it quick or the ladies chow but it did have an underlayer this year that they didn't get mixed in. I think it has something to do with them spending more time in there as well.

Its not a good picture but thankfully it is not scratch and sniff like the real thing either.

Good Monday morning everyone.

I'll take my psychopath cuppa coffee please.

Hope all you folks are able to dig out of the snow today. I will not bore y'all with my temps at this moment.
