One of Kerrie's pullets dropped her first egg off the roost last night. I wasn't even thinking about who did it when I was scooping the boards. I just put the egg in the basket and left it in the coop.
I put my thumb through the thin shell when cleaning it along with the rest of the nightly haul. Bella got to eat it.
I think it was Mackenzie. She's just over 17 weeks and I wasn't expecting one to start laying so soon.

It was under the section of the roost where I put her two brothers the night before. If it was one of them I'm going to be a gozillionaire!

Congratulations!

That is early for sure

Now that those 2 troublemakers are gone, it'll be interesting to see how the remaining boy will behave. Will he be a good buddy to the single pullet...or...?
So far he's a real 'chicken', scared of everything and hiding out as much as before.
But, man, it sure is nice and quiet around here!!

Good morning Café. Coffee is on.
I heard from a friend we are having layoffs at work. Said friend is concerned that she is on the chopping block. I hope not. I don't want to be on it either.
