But when broody she flies into explosive action if anyone lower in the pecking order (or me!) put a foot wrong, such that she's broken an egg and trampled chicks
This was Kerrie. She went straight for my face! What a nut job.

On a funny/ironic note...
I toss about 1/3 cup of mixed bird seed to the flock each morning after filling feeders and the waterer and before I scoop the boards. The flock is very familiar with this routine and meets me at the coop door for their treat. The bantams and Wren hang out in the maternity ward for their treat as I sprinkle a bit through the HC lid into the ward.

I didn't notice Mommy Dearest, hatcher of bantam eggs and baby bantam chick flinger (still makes me made thinking about that), was right outside the entrance to the ward. She went into the ward after the seed and the little Mille Fleur d'Uccle pullet went right after her and managed to drive her out! The little girl was probably strutting around in there afterwards thinking "How do you like me now, MOM?" :gig

Max was so funny on the trip to his new home. I met the lady in a Holiday Inn parking lot. He was dead quiet for the trip down. Once I stopped the car he started talking to me. After we made the transfer from my crate to her crate, he was very quiet again. We stood around chatting for quite a bit. After about 15 minutes we heard him crow! I'm sure the people in the Holiday Inn were wondering what the hell they just heard!
And as a bonus, I mentioned that I had a Mille Fluer d'Uccle cockerel that I needed to rehome and she's very interested in taking him too. She has a separate coop setup for bantams.

Just because mom was a drunk doesn't mean I will be. I never HAD to have a drink. When I went out with friends I was always the DD because I didn't care if I drank.
In fact, it's quite fun to remain sober then tell all your friends of the crazy things they did. They never knew I made half of it up!
You're lucky you didn't get the 'addict' gene, both my parents had it as do I and others in our gene pool.

Excellent!!

Tanner/Bixby has gone to his new home. I don't know when I have ever seen people more excited over their new dog - good for them/good for Bixby.

Disappointing field trial today. Only 6 thirteen inch females showed up for entry. My sport is in trouble.
Well, it is getting cool. Glad you got a home for the dog.
