BYC Café

Yikes!
then I won't complain about the 15° with sunny skies we have right now.
Actually I wasn't anyway :gig much nicer than the 5° this morning during chores.
Got the run cleared out ans the pop door open.
Next up is shoveling path the the fence shed so I can clear the roof,
that roof rake might be hell on my shoulder.
Do you take anything for your shoulder?

Once in a while I'll take some ibuprofen.
I wanked it out somehow about a month ago, it really hurt.
It's been slowly but steadily getting better.
Determined it's tendinitis.
Both my shoulders have been troublesome most my life, PT got me back in shape.
Shoveling doesn't seem to irritate it much, tho I'm careful.
Using the roof rake with hands well above head might be a different story.
Might be an ibuprofen day today.

I have tendonitis or bursitis. Meloxicam helps quite a bit. Basically super-ibp, I think. Arms overhead for any length of time is hard on good shoulders!

My DIL's chickens keep coming up with weird issues. The first was was diagnosed with wry neck and given vitamin E and in a couple days she was fine. A couple weeks ago another one fell ill: lethargic, couldn't walk, green poops. Nutridrench and vit. E did nothing and they put her down. Today, one has got a leg straight out on the ground. She picked her up and can move the leg, so I doubt it's injury...especially with everything else going on. They're only about 9 months old. Vaccinated for Mareks at the hatchery.

Any ideas? Sure looking like Mareks, but I thought they didn't present if vaccinated. Please correct if wrong.

I was expecting an egg by about 10 am. Nope. I think the bitter cold has slowed down the chickens' machinery. Gonna go out and broom off the run roof. They haven't been outside in a couple days. I put a dish of snow in the coop and I don't think they even come out for water right now. I probably could unplug the water heater and lights in the run, for all they are getting out of it.

I usually go to Meijers (we call it "Mars") on Monday, but that can wait. Doing laundry seems like a lot more fun. :lau

It could be a toxin- lead paint chips for example

Saw B2 deficiency might be an issue. No lead paint around there. House is new and paint in coop is new.
I read an article about niacin deficiency in hatched salmon. The parents were deficient and the thought was that the Ocean did not have enough niacin.

Weird!

The problem could be feed that was not properly processed. You might want to switch feed

Here's what I got from my water quality friend:
