So feeling like a basket case is normal. That does make me feel betterI might adjust the humidity on any day.
Not that important.
Tho once I found a pipped chick 'glued' to the turner on day 18-19.
Now I get the turner out early on day 18, by then turning is not critical, but I may not up the humidity until first pip.
First couple incubations are nerve racking...maybe all of them.![]()

I have one question regarding your Covid vaccination @sourland :Prior to all of the snow, Maggie would bring a stick into the house after every trip outdoors. There's a pile of kindling just off the porch.
'Breakfast syrup' is not, has never been maple syrup.

I'm glad everything's not as hypercritical as it sounds when you're reading. What do you try to get your humidity to at lockdown? Currently at 59%.

Thanks, Aart!Sure
I incubate at about 40-50%...or whatever is needed to keep air cells the 'right' size.
After first pip I take it up to 70-80%.
Oh, I think she does(or it happens) we just don't measure it to know how it works there.when a hen incubating eggs can't control such things?
Sometimes I wait until I see the first pip before the eggs go into lockdownSo can you go by what the 18th day is supposed to look like or do you have to go by the difference between 7, 14, and 18?
And is lockdown supposed to be the beginning of day 18 or the beginning of day 19? Not sure why I can't figure that out
If I go by weights, the seem to be on par, or close enough I'd think. I've read on darker shelled eggs to use a different humidity, but people hatch mixed batches all the time... Can't be too critical?
Thank you!Moderna.
