BYC Café

The bottom plates at the front of the garage were rotted when we bought the house.

This is what I removed from the center and left side.

The entire apron was disintegrated and I had it replaced before we had the driveway paved. The concrete workers crammed the concrete under the rotted boards.
When I cut the boards free, I had to chisel the the concrete down to allow me to pound the new boards in.
The front wall was out of plumb about 1/2" pushed out at the bottom so it was a bear forcing everything back where it belonged.
I have the left header ready to go in but no one to help me hoist it up.
My BIL is coming up in the morning to help.
I still have to replace the right plate and reframe the right door then I can start installing the sheathing.
I'm exhausted.

You sure have the work cut out for you there glad you have help coming in

This is the garage that used to flood before you fixed it?
The very one. The rest of the wall base plates are in decent shape. The way things were pitched before I had the property regraded, most of the water flowed in through the front of the garage.

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is ready.

Work resumes in just over an hour and I still have to run the dogs. Thankfully, today is Gigi's for breakfast and I will pick that up on my way home with the dogs.
Another hot one up on deck. I'm sweating buckets out there. The worst part is when it gets in my eyes.
