She's taking them further and further from the coop and run.
Little family portrait.

I'm puttering along with the front porch. I'm going to install recessed LED lights in the ceiling. I'm running solid vinyl soffit for the ceiling. The low profile lights have VERY strong spring clips. I did a test cut to make sure they wouldn't crush the vinyl. They worked great supporting them on the ridges.

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is ready. Strong pot, extra caffeine. :he

Shadow, Ben's friend, had surgery about 3 weeks ago to remove a lipoma from his back and another warty growth from his rear foot that he wouldn't stop fussing with. For whatever reason, the vet did a long single stitch to close his foot. It looked great after the surgery.

Three days later, he ripped the stitch out and the whole thing opened wide and he spent the day licking it. His owner couldn't get it re-stitched that night and took him to her regular vet in the morning but granulation tissue had started to form by then and he would have needed another surgery to close it. She said it was healing so home he came with an E-collar.
He has long legs and a long neck and could easily get at his foot with the E-collar on. Owner fashioned an extension. He figured out how to ram it into a post enough to fold it over, grab it with his mouth, lay down and pin it after getting his foot into position to rip off the bandages again and keep licking it.
She duct taped wood paint sticks to the outside to keep him from folding it over. He figured out how to ram the end of a stick into the pole and push until he heard it snap then fold the end over and repeat! She also tried Bitter Apple. He likes that. She tried hot sauce. Not hot enough. OMG! What a PITA!
She fashioned wood blocks so that he couldn't break the thin sticks. Success! But that thing now weighed a ton and he was smashing it into everything. He only wore it in the walkout basement when they were gone to work.

I have Shadow for the week. The opening in his foot is about the diameter of a large pea. He left the bandage alone that I put on him all day yesterday.

He started working on it when DH and I were watching a movie. I doused it in HOT sauce.
He left it alone.
I woke up at 2 in the morning to licking. Bandage off. :barnie
I rebandaged. Thick layer of HOT sauce. Thick layer of Cayenne pepper squished into HOT sauce. Back to bed.
Bandage still on in morning.
I came back in from tending the flock and he'd pulled the padding out through the toe end and was shredding it!!! He's driving me up a tree.

I'd have to go buy one. Right now, he's wearing the shock collar.
I just caught him licking it and gave him a pop and quickly started typing again like I had not a thing to do with it. I hope that helped! He's very confused right now...
