Good morning, Cafe', and thanks for the coffee. Our attempt with 'rescues' - the organizations not the animals - was very unsatisfying and unsuccessful.

someone dumped a pregnant cat on our farm. Didn't need any cats! Found mother dead. Gathered up kittens and tried to take them to rescues--- some wanted to charge me $50 each for bringing them! I told them they weren't mine, and I shouldn't have to PAY for being humane. Finally travelled to Dutchess county to their shelter---gave them a donation . Now I know why people dump animals around here

I agree that some organizations are exceedingly difficult to work with.
I've found the best luck going through the non-breed specific ones that end up with a dog that fits your life style and what you have to offer. I've never had any luck with any of the regional Doberman rescues.
I got Bells from Rescueme.org directly from the former owner. Of course her breeding and adopting from the owner made her fee very high.

Was so tempted to go meet it.

Winkle(?) is now dubbed Wanker.
Caught him in the run extension last evening, after most the adults were aroost, standing on a totally submitted hen pecking her head. He got chased off with a chair.
Then this morning he stopped dead while cruising thru the coop to turn around and peck a hen in a nest while standing on the floor. Unluckily for him I was holding the roost board leveler, which as promptly leveled on his back.
Yup, a right little Wanker he is.

I have had to knock Napoleon down a few pegs on occasion too but never for so serious an offense as Wanker's.

Last evening Willie was on the roost with all the other adults.
I do think he got some licks in as Wanker rolled thru the coop.
This morning was a hit and run, Willie was in main run eating scratch.
