She's a year old lab mix, at a foster home right now. Oh, believe me, there WILL be pictures!

The tree service quote person never showed yesterday. I guess they don't need/want to deal with our trees...? I know everyone is busy, but come on.

I got good vibes on the second quote, and it's much better than the first one! It'll probably be early November, though, because they want to wait until dormancy. They're taking down white oak, and the guy said their policy is to wait, if possible, so as not to spread oak wilt. We're not in any hurry (though I'd LOVE to have the wood chips asap), so we will do it at a better/safer time.

Good morning and thanks for the coffee! We are supposed to maybe get some rain today.
We went hiking yesterday and found lots of raspberries, a few blueberries, some currants, and some ripe False Solomon's Seal. Then we scored big at the pizza place!
The girls are still sleeping soundly...

Good morning everyone!

A fresh pot of coffee is on the counter for everyone in need.

It is harvest time indeed, I have prepared a lot of elderberries and picked enough apples to start the jam manufacturing this weekend, yay!

It is still raining...

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee. Loads of elderberries this year, and all types of wild shrubs are loaded with berries/fruits. It will be a good year for migrating birds.

I can't get the front of the porch roof finished without setting up a plank.
I've got to get some 2x4s to make new posts for my pump jacks. I pulled mine out and one nearly snapped setting it down. That'll happen when they've been laying on top of the pick planks next to the woods for 4 years.
One of the pick planks is going to have to be dug out to clean it up and sell it. When the trees fell in the storm, one landed over the planks and really mashed the lower one into the mud.

I love reading about all the harvest everyone is getting. I wish I could partake but I just don't have time. Maybe next year...
