This is another auction barn find that we brought home yesterday. I added some more red berry and white berry picks to it to fill it in.
It's spot is going to be on the front porch but the porch isn't fully cleared off yet. I plugged it in because it makes me happy to look at it.
We haven't decorated for the holidays in 9 years.

He let me stroke his wattles again but when I tried to slide my hand under him to pick him up a got a serious warning peck.

None of my hens would let me stroke their wattles unless I cornered them and picked them up. I still say my money is on you!

Thanks for the coffee NFC. I might need a couple of cups this morning. I can't seem to engage more than first gear in the brain this morning.

First day of firearms deer season here. I've heard two shots, not far away. The morning walksie with Freya will be just out to the mailbox instead of on the road through the farmer's fields. And I'll wear my orange vest and hat.

Sounds like everyone needs some high octane coffee this morning. I brewed a stronger pot.

Snow flurries had the youngsters wondering if the world was coming to an end. I gave them some raisins and they forgot all about it.

Another chicken blew up last night. Wow, did she make a mess. I think it's Astrid. With the amount of feathers on the boards, one would think it would be very obvious which one started her molt. I think it's Astrid because I haven't seen an egg from her in over a week and the pile of feathers was under her area of the roosts.

Cayuga has lost nest box privileges. She dooped in the box last night. Mallory can stay. She held it.

Wait, your chickens have assigned spots? Mine quibble about where they are going to sleep every night. I don't think any of them are in the same place night after night.

Some of them, absolutely.

Three of the originals always roost together in the same location; Amelia, Astrid and Olivia. It's their spot and one of them claims it every night well before any others arrive to roost and all three will be found there. Astrid is my BA and the pile was of black feathers.
When Astrid brought her first brood up, Olivia and Amelia had to scooch down a bit to make room for them. That's Oliva on the end looking at Tate. Ameilia was next to her.
