BYC Café

Good morning Cafe. Thanks for the coffee, Sour.

I just finished watching a video that the owner of the farm in Upstate NY made to document the course of events that lead to diagnosis of HPAI in his flocks, totaling 400 birds and their depopulation. It was very sad and sobering.
The farm is about 125 miles from me as a crow flies and they are about 4 miles from the coast of Lake Ontario.

You guys did the right thing by just being honest with each other. Your DH is an amazing person and you are too!
This. I can't say it better.
I've completely lost my desire.
Been there. Oh, man. It's a dark and scary place. Some times it was just putting one foot in front of the other, slogging through the day.

It did get better. It took a long time, but it did get better. I am stronger because of what I went through, and, I think, a better, wiser person.

This book helped me a lot: How to Survive the Loss of a Love.

When I came out the other side, it took a while, but it was worth it.

Chicken in my back field...first thought was I left a door open, but nope don't think it was one of mine......it went off into the woods.
She ended up inside the yard fence, laid an egg under the coop, little pink pullet egg.
I tried to grab her twice,(got so close!) now she steers clear where at first she almost came right to me.
She spent the rainy night on top of the run where I couldn't get at her, but was somewhat sheltered by the coop roof overhang. I don't know WTH I'll do in the long term, but put out some scratch and feed for her. SMH.
I really don't want to deal with this but maybe she came to spur me to get rid of her and a few others.

Excellent book. IIRC it covers many kinds of loss.

Just ordered it...
Along with a Grisham novel and a Paleo cookbook. :D

I also called another assisted living center to get a comparison on prices vs. the Homesteads. They were 31% more expensive and further away. I think I'll just stick with the Homesteads. BUT, the woman I spoke with told me of a NYS funded program that helps cover the cost of assisted living when the money is running out. THAT was super useful to learn. I've bookmarked the site.
The patient must have dementia, must have lived at the assisted living center for a minimum of 12 months, must meet the income criteria and must have 6 or less months of funds left to cover their expenses and not currently be on Medicaid. The facility must also have opted in to participate in the program. I'll have to ask about that when I call them later this morning.

I think a lot of people have fallen for it.
And most were not very creative with their new names!

Would have posted my new member name as "iamnotanaprilfool"...
.... but I would have been chastised for giving up the ploy.
Yes you would!

I brought a freshly brewed selection to choose from, so help yourselves and enjoy!
You are an EXCELLENT host @LaFleche :)

We have decided that he will move to his new home June 1, when we get back from the beach in DE.
Hard decision to make but it is for the best. Glad he understands you and he both need this.
Many many :hugs

I'm good, Cap. How about you? The Princess and I just got our second Moderna booster.
I am doing ok today. Hubby helped finish up attaching the roof to the pole barn to cover the goat's hay.
