BYC Café

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is ready.

We have another HPAI case in NY. This time in Fulton county. This makes 8 cases total to date. Still nothing within 125 mile radius of me. But I still had an awful nightmare last night that my flock became infected and were all killed by the state.
It's going to rain again today so I'm leaving them in the run. Because it's raining. Yeah. That's it...

Our yard is a swamp. We have a 25% chance of rain today and it's going to rain all day tomorrow.
This was the flooding prediction last night.

This is now the flooding prediction:

When I was driving home yesterday and got near the mouth of the Apalachin creek, it was so muddy that when it joined the Susquehanna it made a big wide mud streak down the river. It was actually pretty cool. I can say that now that I don't live in the flood zone and don't lose sleep over wondering if the house is going to flood.

Ground is greening fast...that means mowing soon, GROAN!
Tomorrow morning's ground may be white.
Well, you don't gotta mow snow. :gig

Speaking of mowing... DH's shine new mower is supposed to be delivered April 22.

We live on a river, but thankfully, it's about 100' (?) lower than the house. If it floods here, we'll be building an ark.

A few years ago, we had a "100 year" flood. Not a problem at our house.

I'm only half ready. I've taken the snow removal gear off the blower but I didn't get around to sharpening the deck blades last fall. I did clean out the deck though.
Am more concerned, at this point, with my incredibly decreased ability to get all the fallen branches off the yards and fields to be able to mow.

Good morning and while we are on the weather complaint issue, this was the lead in on the forecast discussion this morning and while it is too far out to say yes or no, the fact that it is even mentioned is having us make sure the backcountry snowshoes are ready for animal chores and plans are being made for the "just in case" repeat 7 footer or who knows what.

"At this time range, we will begin to "sound the alarm" for a
potentially significant and rare storm. The ECMWF extreme forecast
index highlights this need to start messaging this system as values
of 0.7 for wind and snowfall indicate an unusual event is likely."
