BYC Café

The old roof is off.
There was a cracked truss, as I suspected.
I sistered it with an 8ft 2x4 centered on the crack on both sides of the truss. It's nice and strong now.
We replaced 2.5 sheets of plywood. Still need to do 2 more but I need to get the plywood. I'm out of gas.
We tarped the roof and I'm taking a little break before I unhitch the trailer and take Bella for a run.
About 15 minutes before I took this picture, someone threw a snowball at me.

Good afternoon Cafe.
Just on decent with regard to the weather here.
I've picked up some bug or other and feel like shite. Walking at half speed and not straying far from a tiolet. Wonderful eh.

Good afternoon Cafe and thanks for the coffee, Sour.

My BIL and nephew came over at a little after 8 this morning and we loaded my trailer and his truck with all the roof debris and were down to the Owego transfer station by 10. They were closed. Their hours have always been 7 to noon on Saturdays. I have no idea when this changed.

So we turned around and hit the highway and went all the way to the Broome county landfill to be met by a very long line of vehicles waiting to weigh in. I finally got to the scale and the clerk asked what I had.
Shingles.
Where are you from?
Tioga county.
You can't dump here.
WHAT? Since when?
Broome county residents only.
WTF?!?! (Yes. I actually said it)

Then I remembered the transfer station that's FREE for Town of Union residents. Who do I know in the Town of Union? Steve!! I called him and he said, yes, he's in the Town of Union and, yes, he'll meet me just up the road from the transfer station.
We drive up, I let him do the talking. He shows his driver's license. Okay. What's your address again?
Arthur Ave.
Huh. I can't find it on my list.
Oh, it's behind the old IBM plant.
Oh. That's Endicott. Endicott residents pay $20 per item. I interjected that we had perhaps 1000 items of shingles, nails and pieces of tar paper. He charged $20 for my trailer and $20 for the truck. I then gave BIL $40 for his gas guzzler.

At least I got rid of all the old roof but it blew my entire morning.

@DobieLover - it's time for another coffee. You just had the sort of morning that drives me batstuff crazy.

crazier that is. <- I see that!
Absolutely!

I just finished cleaning all the grit and residue off all the tarps and bagging it up, hit the deck with the leaf blower, rolled up the old rugs I used to protect the deck, folded all the canvas drop cloths and tarps, put all these things back in the garage along with pieces of scrap lumber I used to weigh down the tarps, the rolling magnet and dolly then hauled about 1/2 of the cut up downed tree over to the burn pile. I just came in for a break while it sprinkles out there. I still want to make 2 runs to Lowe's for more plywood, shingles and PT lumber.

My back is holding up surprisingly well.
