BYC Café

My back is holding up surprisingly well.
Knock Wood, Sister!

It's HOT out there, near 87 in the coop.

Now the fancy ones are blooming.
I planted these bulbs ~20 years ago.

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is ready.
We will be approaching 80 today. I'm heading out soon to haul in more supplies. I want to get those last two crappy sheets of plywood on the roof replaced, tack up some drip edge and get the I&W down and the underlayment up to the ridge on the left side of the roof away from where the room is going to go. It should be a hoot getting over all the vents.

I dug some holes in my heavy clay soil garden yesterday. I'm glad I stopped at 4 and moved on to other things. I'm surprisingly mobile this morning. :)

I'll see if I can get a few more dug today. They're for chunks of the really dry rotted apple tree DH cut up. Sort of hugelkultur, since it won't be a mound. After I get those in, I'll add gobs of wood chips from the trees we had taken down last November.

Is 5+ months long enough to age wood chips?

For use in a chicken run?
You know the drill, use chips from outside of pile and add a 1-3" layer in run every week or two(or as needed).

Growing plants in 'woody' soil can greatly reduce nitrogen available to plants.
