Out of my brain.
After lots of research and from my previous experience with my first pond. I want this one to be much easier to maintain.
This is the first one.

I'd like to know the details of how you plan to obtain this.....so a build thread might be fun, even after the fact.
Back in my ponding days, I spent as much time on a pond forum as I do here on BYC now. I learned a ton and got help and encouragement from those much more skilled than I. Was fun!

My first pond was just a 2000 gallon koi pond but deep enough for them to Winter over. I really miss it. But I'd certainly like bigger and better this time.

In a nutshell:
A deeper pond than the first.
4" bottom drain with air diffuser that feeds into a 60 gallon settling tank. Water flows up through the 2" outlet pipe and is first passed through poly shavings then a Matala filter wrapped around the outlet pipe.
Water pulls through the skimmer which is also connected to the top of the settling tank.
Water splits on the outlet side of the pump:
One line to the bio waterfall filter which has a 5" air sparger disc in the bottom to tumble the bio media and inject lots of oxygen into the system to really send the bacteria into turbo drive.
One line go through a UV clarifier and then back over the edge of the pond and aimed around the side wall of the planting shelf to swirl the water clockwise and down to the bottom drain.
I will have gold fish and keep the number to a low roar along with pond plants.
Maintenance will require dumping the skimmer screen, closing the knife valve on the settling tank and turning on a sludge pump with a hose that I will leave in the tank when I am running the bottom drain to empty the solids while hosing out the poly shavings and Matala filter. Then I'll open the knife valve and let the pond push whatever is in the 4" line up into the tank and pump it out again.
I'll check both once a week and see how often it needs to be done once the pond is established.
I'll have to prune the lilies and marginals but that's normal garden maintenance which I just love doing.
