BYC Café

That's what the vet said.
She was dehydrated and very hungry by the time we got home. She had a HUGE pee and wolfed down her late dinner and readily went into her crate to go to sleep. I just gave her a dose of her pain med.
To remind me just how crappy my life can get, I hit a deer on the way home from my sister's house. It ran out from my neighbors yard so I wasn't going very fast at all. Maybe 20 mph. It ran off and I didn't see huge damage on the front of my car but then again, I didn't look too hard. Just don't have the energy to care about that at the moment.
Pups heal fast.

I'm at Cornell. Again.
I left at 1 to go to the work party, picked up DH afterwards, ran errands and was home at 5 to find Piper standing in blood with her front left leg stuck between the frame and gate of her puppy pen. I totally lost it.
I got her free, wrapped her in her blanket and then attempted to get DH back in his coat while he continued to laugh because he just didn't understand at all what was going on and thought my sobbing was laughter.
I drove to my sister's house and asked her to help me. Her husband took DH home and my nephew went up to my house to feed and potty Bella and Skittles while sis and I went to the hospital.
The doctor just spoke to me and said Piper did not break her leg. The blood came from a nail on her back foot where she must have been struggling to free herself. She has soft tissue damage to the leg, it is swollen and she is favoring it but weight bearing. She's coming home with pain meds and restricted activity.
My family didn't even know I got a puppy. I hadn't told them yet. I was going to surprise them.
I’m so sorry! I agree with others she will heal quickly! Hugs to you and Piper!!!

Good morning Cafe and thanks for the coffee, Orca.
How’s Piper doing DL? As everyone has said, pups heal quick and are resilient little beings. ❤️
She seems to be her normal self and ready to go. I had quite a time keeping Bella away from her this morning. I let her give her a good once over. I'm sure she was just and traumatized by seeing little sister struggling in pain yesterday.
Her leg is still a little swollen but she is using it

What a shitty day. :hugs

Tell me about it.
It started off good. The sticky buns came out great! :)
Amazing how rapidly things can spiral down. I have entirely too many of these days. I'm shocked I'm not an alcoholic! I come from a line of them and I've never been remotely interested in self-medicating that way. Again, Mommy Dearest, thank you for the roll model you were that put me on this path instead of yours!

DL, today is a new day. Piper will heal quickly.
:hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs
She had a normal BM this morning then ate a little over half her breakfast and wanted no more.
She napped on me until it was time to get the chickens done then had a nasty diarrhea mess in her porta potty. I hope it is just because of the stress from yesterday. She is otherwise acting fine. A little more pumpkin in her meal and hopefully she will go back to normal.

The diarrhea is very likely from the stress yesterday - I’m sure her BMs will be back to normal in no time!

Glad that otherwise she seems to be doing well ❤️
