BYC Café

I'm getting a lot done while DH and Freya are gone. I don't have to "work around" anyone, and I can leave projects in various stages of completion.

For instance, it's too cold in the garage to paint stuff. So I have saw horses set up in the mud room to paint. When stuff is dry to the touch, I move it into the living room to dry. (I didn't want to paint in the living room... too much chance of making a big mess.)

I plan to make old feed sacks into shopping bags. I rinsed them out in the shower, and they're also sitting around the living room drying. Since I don't watch TV, other than to catch the local weather, all this stuff is blocking the screen. Too bad, don't care. :gig

The last joint I went to glue was that short stem going into the Tee. It wouldn't go! So I quickly scraped the uncured cement out of the socket of the Tee with my thumbnail and I will give it a light sanding. I'm going to glue a new stub into that socket, cut the glued end off of the other stub and use a Fernco coupling to connect the line.

PSA - before you cut the feed line make sure you break the siphon from the pond. Failing to do so well very rapidly will flood your work site.

I used ferncos everywhere, but my system was smaller and got broke down every winter.

What's in the wooden box?

Here's the ball valve wrench I made, my valves were below ground in a pit,
this made them much easier to operate.

I made a little progress and will hopefully be able to test the waterfall tomorrow.
This is the view from out my bedroom window.

Still more work to do with the landscaping around the pond, getting it mulched and finishing up the marginal plants.

About 10 minutes before I took this picture some very gusty winds blew through to bring in the rain storm. I stood out on my deck under the roof I built last year and watched three trees snap midway up in my side lot and heard three or four more fall in the woods behind my house. I still don't have insurance on my solar panels. And I've got a widow maker arrangement with 2 trees hung up on a third standing to the left of my shed that could reach the panels if they fell that way. I've got to get that down along with all the mature poplars that could/will cause damage when they drop.
