BYC Café

Good morning! It's grey and damp out there, but really warm; 52 degrees. Nothing planned for the weekend, other than football and Christmas cards.

My chicken sitter, who is 71, had a heart attack last Wednesday night. I haven't heard many updates, other than she'll be in the hospital for a few days, hooked up to a machine that'll pump her blood while her heart rests and heals. They put in a stent.

I don't know if that info means it was a really bad heart attack, a minor one, or doesn't mean anything at all.

Please be ok, Jamie... please...

The condition you have related is very serious.

Have you been checked for cataracts?
I do have cataracts in the right eye, and need an operation, the problem is, I am also very near sighted, during the operation, they would also replace my lens, but… I‘ve got almost perfect vision in my left eye ( with glasses) but would need to get both eyes operated on, cos the difference between the eyes would be too big ( 12 diopters) if I just get one fixed, the 2. problem is, my retina could tear , one of the complications of the operation , 2 operation, 2 times the risk, as long as my left eye is „good“, I won’t risk turning blind 😬 I‘m a magnet for operation complications 🙄

Hello, Cafe’!

It’s a rather nasty day today. Grey, cloudy, cold and very windy. A perfect day to go buy a Christmas tree! (Getting a real one for my upstairs so I can hang my special ornaments - the ones I don’t want the kids touching.) I had hoped to go yesterday, but ended up bringing GD home after school so big brother could go to a thing at the library with their mom. Dad was working. Her car seat doesn’t fit in our “winter pickup”, so couldn’t go get the tree yesterday.

I will confess to being perfectly lazy today. I didn’t drag my carcass out of bed until almost 9:30, and took my time eating breakfast and drinking my tea. I can’t remember the last time I had a chance to do that, and don’t see it happening again any time soon.

I hope you all have a most wonderful weekend!

And those people don't care if they bump into you, if they all but take something out of your hands, and possibly try to push in front of you at the register.

These people are the ones that just don't care.
This makes me appreciate where I live. Small town, rural area. Most people are polite and friendly. We have some who aren’t, but you know who they are and can avoid them. There is no such thing as a “quick trip” to the grocery store for me, unless I duck down aisles when I’m in a hurry…
