BYC Café

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is ready.

Piper seems as good as new but I'm still babying her GI tract and trying to keep her crazy at a low roar. Not easy to do with Brohdi in the house. Oh boy, but those two love to play.

Last night was my last grief support meeting. We all brought a snack type food and had a little party. I came home with a lot of my fruit and dip plus treats that the others brought.

The social worker that ran this meeting series also happens to be the lady that had Dave's case so she already knew me. I cracked again last night. Mostly because of the pain that is now ruling me. She said she was going to call me today. She wants to put me in touch with another social worker that does one on ones and can refer me to someone that will take my crappy insurance and offers a sliding scale fee. I hope I will be referred to someone that I have a good rapport with.

I hope you find someone who can help you through this rough time.

The GF bread I made in the machine was good, I thought. Heavy and dense, like most GF loaves are.

The stuff I make now in the mixer is a totally different recipe, and I like it MUCH better. It is sandwich worthy for about 3 days, then gets a little dry and is better as toast.

Or as I say, it's good for 3 days, then it's toast.

I toast all my bread, at least lightly.
Except for that first day of baking slice when it's still warm from the oven and butter will melt on it.

Got the whole house fan uncovered, then hauled the 6' step ladder down to the coop and opened the remaining 3 operable windows, including the one covering the fan in there. All ready(as I'll ever be) for the coming heat wave.

Gonna "act old" now and complain about my shaky limbs, bruised shoulder, and cramped/twanged bad thumb. But I got it done smoothly and efficiently-benefit of 12 years experience.

Saw a single turkey hen strolling along the fence line, as she reached the driveway I saw that she had like 10 poults with her, the grass is so tall I couldn't see them before.
The poults kept following the fence towards the house, and some were on the wrong side of the fence, inside the yard. The poults followed mom across the driveway and luckily the others made it thru the fence to follow. Then mom jumped up on the retaining wall, about 3' high at that point.... I thought, ohno, how will the poults follow her? But they found their way to the end of the wall and climbed the slope to catch up with her. Was cool to see.
