When we have an outdoor only cat (Tom's) the feed bowl goes under the horse feed mixing table and only has a bit of feed in it twice a day, if it's not eaten when horse chores are done the feed is put away for next time. The cats learn if they want to eat they get there on time.

That real good snow that hit the coast hard and stayed away from us inland about the early 90's maybe late 80's?

No, a bit more recent than that. You're thinking about the Christmas of '89 (great memory, for someone that got missed by it!). We were told that we were going to experience record lows, and I was thinking I was going to lose the pansies that I had planted on properties all over town. Then, at almost the 11th hour, they started talking about snow . . . I don't think anyone in their wildest dreams thought we would get 15 inches! When we hit an all-time record low of 0oF on Christmas day, the whole area was already almost at a standstill with icy roads and drifted snow.
