Hi Guys,

Sorry to butt in again but finally after months of sheer and utter panic can now post some positive news. My hubby was diagnosed with cancer when I was in UK and dealing with fathers death. To cut a long story short the docs messed up his op and he was critical.with little chance of survival.

I helicoptered him to a new specialised hospital and he has come thru an 8 hours op and is stable - we are all so positive now and thank the Angels because they have worked wonders for us.- when DD says someone listens she is not wrong.

It is 39 here to day and a beautiful day sorry you are all so cold thinking of you after the freezing cold in the UK and sympathising.

I think life throws us curve balls all the time to let us know that our loved are so precious and we must be so thankful for each other.and love wins thru every time.

You all have a good day and thanks DD

.

Well bless your heart! I've been "lurking" around this thread for a while so I haven't "seen" you here.

I was wondering about you last week. I am sorry your worlds got dumped upside down.
I hope he continues to improve and you are still in my thoughts and prayers.

DH doing really well thank you all by Monday it will be 72hrs and he will still be critical but healing. He was frightened and couldn't speak but tried to write I love you on his chest - it was heart breaking and wonderful at the same time.

Anyway I wanted to ask you all why my sweet little Roo has turned into a vicious Roo.

I checked the Behaviour forum but mostly says about kids taunting the chooks. I was wondering if it was because I was away and other people were feeding him or is he growing up he is a year now. I cannot understand it, he loves his girls and is so protective of them. He came to peck me on the leg tonight when I went to feed him but told him strongly it was me and he backed off but it was quite scary. I cannot believe anything so small as he is a Bantam (sorry DD I know how you love Bantams) lol can be so aggressive.

The other thing I wanted to say was my dogs have not wanted to go for walks or play for weeks but today they brought all their balls and bounced and squeaked everywhere and they are huge dogs. Do you think they knew about DH? maybe I am crazy - wouldn't be surprised after everything.

I would guess that your rooster is genetically programmed to be over protective and human aggressive. I seriously doubt that 'children taunting him' has anything to do with his temperament. He is reaching maturity now and the testosterone is driving him a little bit nuts. Do not tolerate his aggression. Do not kick or hit at him, but force him into submission. A short handled fishing net works wonders on small roosters.

It would not surprise me if your dogs were aware of and concerned about your husbands health. They understand more than we are aware of.

A short bass net works wonders for a large rooster also, I have more then one in different places around the pens.
Agree about the dogs also!
