PUPPIES - that poor momma - imagine having a litter of children all at once

I bet when they finish nursing(for the moment) her weight is down 10 pounds. Then she has to refill. OY.

Morning, Cafe!
Nice quiet morning here - thinking it might be time to get dressed and get moving. Had a great weekend at the sister's place - got play farmhand which is always a nice change from this new city life I find myself stuck in, lol. Between sister's health being what it is and mom being not as young as she once was (and the able bodied niece and nephew who live there being less than anxious to be helpful
duc.gif
....but not my kids so.....) we try to get down there as much as we can so DS and I can get things done. Did some work in the chicken coop, got some cleanup work done, split some firewood, hauled niece and her horse to a 4-H event and got to spend some time climbing around in the hay barn.....LOVED every minute of it, lol. I hadn't been down since they started doing dialysis on my sister a couple of weeks ago - seeing that whole setup there in the living room was a bit of a shocker, even knowing it was going on SEEING it all just made it that much more real that this is really where we are at with her health now. Hearing/seeing it all now I really understand why my poor mom has been so stressed out by being the one that gives sister her treatments - it helps that sister is a nurse, but mom isn't so this is all very new and very scary to her, she is convinced she is going to "croak my sister". I'm hoping I can work it out so that DS and I can commit to being down there every two weeks for at least a day - and I'll be spending the day in Portland with mom and sister in a few weeks as we will be at OHSU meeting with the transplant team for the initial screening/training phase of getting sis closer to a new kidney....sister has all sorts of tests and mom and I have to learn how to take care of her post-op (sis is going to stay here with me and my family for the first 30 days as we are within an hour of the hospital and her place isn't).....then we wait......weeks, months, who knows.

It is snowing here a bit, not too much, just a couple of inches or so. DS$ made an appearance in the kitchen and I looked at him like he was an alien. He said, "What? My alarm didn't go off...." I said, " There is no school. (Mass confusion on his face) Go back to bed, there is no school. It is a Holiday." So now he is gone away to continue snoozing.
Funny boy! We had a fun weekend and he really liked watching the Division 1 wrestlers so we are going to go watch again when Oklahoma makes a stop.
LOL - silly kid!

Our snow and ice are still sticking around, but haven't gotten any more -- now we're bracing for flooding as it supposed to warm up above freezing just as we get heavy rains for the next several days.

Good morning, need extra coffee, didn't sleep well last night. I think I was too wound up from the football game! Then again DH was up at 3:30 so he would catch his flight this morning.

I made a blueberry coffee cake for dessert last night, served it with a scoop of ice cream. I do have some leftover, after sending a big chunk home with my dad!

It has been 11 years since we had a puppy in the house. I can't wait. I took two weeks off of work, so, because of how I'm scheduled, I'll be home with her almost three full weeks.

Here are some pictures from the breeder, the first one is day two, the second two are several hours after being born.

Too cute - which color is your pup wearing? I think taking the time off is a great plan - it's such a huge adjustment for the humans and the puppy that the more time you can dedicate to the process the better. I do the same whenever we add to our fur family. It definitely helps make the early training faster and easier.

Hey, as long as I don't have to feed them (and clean up after them, and pay the vet bills, etc, etc), I can look at and love 'em all day.
So true!

That's okay, I am going to Dunkin Donuts right now. I'll take orders. Not as good as homemade or small shop but still donuts
Can't beat a good small shop -- we had one in the last place we lived that just might be the best doughnuts I've ever had, haven't found a place here yet....no small shops in town and just the grocery store bakeries. VooDoo Donuts are the big thing around here, haven't committed to making the trip into the city to try them out and always figure the places with all that kind of hype usually end up disappointing anyway.

How bout Krispy Kreme? I've lived near all 3, they will do in a pinch.

I do like TH's donut holes.

But we have a local donut shop that makes the best of everything. Their cannoli is heavenly.

Never understood the craze for KK......the times I've tried them I've not even finished one, which is saying a lot considering I love doughnuts!

Guess I missed those donuts, darn it! Weekend means a big pot of coffee though, so that was nice

It's sunny here, I hope everyone else is having an ok day today

Nothing worse than being the person that opens up the box to find nothing but sprinkles and crumbs in the bottom........

That is a very healthy looking litter of pups! How very exciting!

OGM, I hope the tests go well for your sister and your Mom can find a bit of time to relax. I bet it would be incredibly stressful to have to nurse your child, no matter how old they are, when that is not something you are super comfortable with.

Sorry about your sister's health and everything!

As for the donuts, that's very true. I haven't really made any effort to find any local shops but I'm sure there are plenty.

As for Voodoo, actually believe it or not I think I've heard of it!! I go to a lot of concerts especially local ones and am active on social media, even friends with some of the bands, so I've actually seen a few of the touring bands post about Voodoo Donuts believe it or not! LOL I think it is actually one of the few hyped places that is actually supposed to be good lol sooo you shouls try it :p

I'd believe it - one of these days we'll just have to take the drive and check them out. I figure if we go during the week we can avoid some of the craziness, but we'll see. If I'm going to stand in line for a donut it had BETTER be good, lol.

Thank you, MM!

Luna got shaved today

I'm too lazy to repost all the pictures but they're here.

And here's one picture.

There's more in the other post but you get the general idea. Which is that she looks hilarious.

LOL - did take a peek at your other thread and love the clothes you got for Luna.

Apparently they have all sorts of really cool donuts! I can't believe some of the ones I've seen. You should definitely check it out. I'm not sure there's ever a good time at busy places though lol unless maybe you go when everybody's at work and school. I'd like to try it myself sometime.

She looks hilarious right? :lau and thank you :) was trying to pick something cute but still dignified and not one of those dumb phrases and sparkles lol

Grey Mare - I have no idea which puppy is mine! They will be sending weekly updates, with pictures. I will find out in six more weeks which of the two girls is mine. But I will post the pictures as I get them! The first installment should be sometime tomorrow.
