Good morning!

It's still chilly here, and by chilly I mean cold. Up to -16 (3 F). But tomorrow it's supposed to be 5 degrees above freezing!

Busy weekend for me too, parents are coming down (that's a good thing!). We'll be taking down some trees for next years wood, and maybe tapping some maple trees - though I may still hold off for a week or two.

As for insurance, my dad recently retired as the president of a small mutual insurance company so I have a slightly different perspective. But maybe mutuals are just run differently, his costumers would always get returns if there weren't a lot of claims that year. And his company was always hoping to help those that needed - while still being fair. They also invested back in the community. But I guess that's where the local small business model makes the difference.

z,ptmomh er Morning! The wind is screaming here too and almost 50 as well. Our power went out and now they have a high wind warning posted. Chinooks, which means I am sharing with the plains today so we all get messed up.
Whoop, that sounds like quite a lightning hit! Maybe the powers that be are giving you an excuse to have your SIL go stay somewhere else!!! ??? Just a thought...
DH woke me up in a panic with the whole power out thing, even though it was back on in time for coffee because he didn't remember that DS$ had no school today and oh no, the boy is going to miss the bus!!!

DS$ is still sleeping nicely....
I need more coffee... anyone want some 80mph winds?

Good Morning, KD :frow
You might try reading a textbook from one of your more boring courses.
Maybe think about cleaning out the closet?
Have a good weekend anyways.
Scott

Thanks! I stayed laying there and finally got up at 9 lol i did force myself to keep my eyes shut for like an hour even though i didnt really "sleep" so that was good. Very cold out. Chickens are still hiding out!! I do hope they're okay

Hi Cafe. Can't believe our babysitting stint is almost over! Luckily I paid a bit of attention and noticed that GS had his Valentines party today, so we bought snacks, made a mailbox and he wrote his name on 15 valentines. He seemed pretty happy when we dropped him off this morning with all his stuff. (Thank goodness I noticed the party announcement sign the other day!!)

Power back on. Winds still screaming, fanning wildfires out on the plains. My driveway decided to melt and now I can't get back up through the slush. I shoveled for awhile just to get some off but the reality is that it can just continue to melt. A big old tree came down while I was out driving around the ranch checking on things. Blocked the road and so I had to come back and get a logging chain to drag it out of the way. This is ridiculous! The winds have easily been near 100mph and they change direction whenever they want..... but I am still here!!!!

What fun for your GS!

I remember the grade school Valentine Day mailboxes and parties, always enjoyed those. And I still remember when my 4th grade boyfriend, Nick, gave a box of conversation candy hearts to me...and that awful girl Judy.
