BYC Café

Sitting here with a cup of coffee watching the Rose Parade and missing SoCal a bit. The parade is so much fun in person, going down there in the middle of the night, and the floats smell amazing as they cruise by.

I miss the citrus trees, the eucalyptus trees, the palm trees, the avocado trees, growing lettuce in my backyard in the winter. The freeways and the crowds - not so much.
Or the pollution I'm sure.

Most definitely.

Winters were gorgeous, the mountains disappeared into the smog in the summer. :(

@ChickenCanoe
We went out early (not party goers) and had great prime rib at a local restaurant plus small hot fudge sundae - YES!!! That is living it up. Brother paid and son took care of the tip and I took unused napkins home.

I have quite a collection plus sugar packets from everywhere I go. That's insurance in case I ever run out of sweets. Can't be too careful.

A nurse once told me if you get the hiccoughs(sp??) take a spoonful of sugar and it stops it. It really does. But then I figure I need to take more just in case it would come back.

I know I am bad to the bone.
We toasted the new year at 10pm and went to bed. I could not stay up any longer. Getting old I guess...

The only time we do anything for NY eve is if we go very far from home and all spend the night at a friend's house.
My wife has to work NYD so no late partying.
I went out to shoot pool at the top of the next hill from my house. I left there by 9. Wife went to bed and I tried to stay up to watch the ringing in but fell asleep by 10. That's old for you.

Back when I was younger I collected sugar packets! !! I think I still have some? Maybe?

But I collected most of them empty.

I got up to poke the fire so i put coffee on and water to boil. There is a big tray of hot cinnamon buns too, help yourself. Happy New Year!

I would love some of the cinnamon buns! :ya

Thank you for the coffee!
It is -12 here this morning, that is a cold way to start the new year. Keep warm everyone

Too cold! Hide!
