I was confusing the gender in the article. The article was about a treatment that they tried that worked on a girl years ago. It has not worked sense but for two cases and those two may not have had rabies.

It is the same case though

Ahh that makes sense.

Yes, i was looking for goat stuff and i found it on Amazon. Big key chain!

Wow that's awesome!

Thanks for all the info on rabies!! I didn't realize the time was set before they had vaccines or that it could take so long to show rabies symptoms. I did know we had it here though, hasn't been eradicated yet, and raccoons, foxes, etc. all get it. But I didn't think dogs did. Or at least that bats are flying around biting dogs hah I guess it's possible though before the dog has all it's vaccines? Or maybe people don't vaccinate their dogs?

Wow what an awesome program.

Not awesome he lost his legs but cool program

Nice! This one is hilarious ha says new for 2017 so i wonder exactly when it was released

How cool! Is that a goat?
Dogs do get vaccines, but they must be redone done every year. Some people let them slip, esspecially if they are not in a area with a lot of rabies.
We have it pretty bad here, so my dogs go in yearly

Some vets claim there are vaccines that last 2 years!

. I will! He'll get a kick out of it. My parents used to live in Port Townsend, WA and moved here to be closer to us.
I love Port Townsend. Such great little shops. The last time I was there there was a woman who did the most incredible sidewalk art. I was rather disappointed with the rhodendrum (sp) festival though.

Really? I have never heard that. Maybe it is just a stricter policy here because of the rabies in our area.

Not a claim, they do last that long. Actually, we get the 3 year one. I'm not sure they have 2 year. But they actually say vaccines last way longer than most vets claim and some people think they are dangerous or that overvaccination damages immune systems so they don't get any, except the required rabies, and/or stop getting them after a certain number of years. I'm not sure I fully buy it but supposedly some dogs have really adverse reactions to vaccines so I suppose of your dog is one, you would have to do that. Some people also spread out the puppy vaccines. For me, our dogs are always fine so we've just gotten the shots. But they do also do titer tests. Supposedly the shots can technically last the whole life or at least years so some people will just do a titer test, which I think is just a blood test to check the antibody levels of the specific vaccine, and if they still have sufficient antibody levels they won't get the shot. That one makes sense somewhat because if your dog is already immune, why vaccinate again? They're not gonna get more immune. But again, for us, I've never cared that much and have never asked for a titer test instead. I'm not even sure all vets do it. Plus Gator hates blood work haha

But yeah. For him and the cat we do 3 year rabies and then another annual shot and check up. I think for him it's like distemper and something else and for the cat it's the 4 way combo one.

That's what they claimed in FL, and charged extra for it.

Ridiculous!

Guess it's worth the expense when you think how deadly the disease is.

True

Okay, turns out we get 3 year rabies and 3 year DHPP (whatever that is) and the annual one is lyme. Forgot about that, whoops. We have a lot of ticks around here.

The cat's rabies is annual and then she gets this other 3 year one. Do they make 3 year rabies for cats? So ya.

This is the dog's, the cat's from last year at the VCA we went to to have her shaved and one from our normal vet.

This doesn't include prices but I can if anyone wants me to but I figure that's slightly tacky or rude to just post them haha but I wanted to post specifically what vaccines we got them cause I couldn't really remember exactly.

instances of increased cancer linked to over vaccinating if blood titers are done instead to test level of vaccine
