BYC Café

Tea for me. Lemon and ginger with honey.

Still recovering of course, but feeling more energetic then before so that's good.
We've gotten a ton of snow lately and it looks absolutely gorgeous. Though it feels like -30

And my chickens are laying again! Egg amounts are going back to what they were before the decline.

Good morning everyone
We have parent teachers conferences for thing 1 and 2. They want to put thing 1 into a speach program. I think she talks like every other 5 year old, but I guess I do not care at this stage what program she is in.

How's the cheese Ron & Organic?
I just finished some cream cheese yesterday. It was a success. But I think is it probably more expensive then just buying it.
Orherwise I have made Queso Fresco and Queso Blanco. They are ok, but apparently are not supposed to melt. But it went good on tacos.

that is great on the cheese!

My youngest DD was identified as a poor reader in the first and second grade. Part of the test was reading a passage out loud and then answering questions. There were different levels of the test from below grade level, at grade level and above grade level. My DD did not read the passage in a time limit so they did note test comprehension at the grade level test.

I asked the teacher why they did that. It is a district policy she said. My DD had nearly 100% comprehension on the passages she was allowed to be tested on. The teacher admitted that if she were allowed to take the test, my DD would have passed it easily. The answer to reading at grade level, according to the test, was to have her practice reading outloud. Even at the first and second grade, She did not say the words in her head as she read so oral reading was not something she was fast at.

My DD is extremely good at school. She has not had anything but A's since they started giving out letter grades in middle school and now up to the first semester in college.

Schools can be very silly!

Did you try frying the cheese! Sticks fried in butter until browned are amazing!
