I found that as soon as the eldest was 7 things went way easier. Huge improvement
Next big step was when youngest turned 5.

Yes, i have been to shows. I prefer to buy rabbits at shows. And i love looking at all the rabbits! And talking to people. I would like to read more about color inheritance. Any books you recommend?Have you actually been to a rabbit show? It's been a while since I've gone to one (time and money constraints), but unless things have changed dramatically, it's a whole different world from dog shows. People who have done both tell me it's like a breath of fresh air.
If you're interested, there's going to be a major show (state convention, I think) in Greensboro March 17-18. If you are used to dog shows, you might walk in and say, "am I even in the right place??"
I mentioned "showable," because when selling rabbits, you have to think about the possibility that a potential buyer may want to show, or breed for show. Showable rabbits are worth more, especially if they come with pedigrees. Knowing what color is showable and what isn't is the first layer in evaluating a rabbit; one of the first questions a breeding neophyte will ask is, "what can I breed to this to get showable colors?" I remember an article a friend of mine wrote for a breed publication on the subject; rather than go over the "undesirable" possibilities of some combinations, she simply wrote things like "Chestnut x Smoke Pearl = DON'T DO THIS!"
