Got awaked by a phone call just now. Abnormal mammogram, need a follow up sonogram.:barnie
I hope everything turns out ok Cap! I had that a couple of years ago. Turns out I had 2 cysts, one the size of a lemon. They're actually shrinking on their own. Not that I wish it upon You, but I hope that's all it turns out to be. grouphugg.gif

I will probably get Red Rangers, I like them better then the Cornish X. Last time I got them they were very big at processing. So i need to process earlier this time, and i was hoping to do them all in a couple batches instead of one big batch. I just need to look up what I did in the past and do some calculations.
I would not go over 14 weeks with the Red Rangers no matter what the size. They are tenderest at that age

Good morning everyone
I talked to DH about wanting to do meat birds again this year (I took last year off because of thing 3) and he wasn't against it
:wee
I was worried he would get grumpy about it. He is good help, but he does get grumpy.
Now I need to figure out when to get them so we process before July but they get plenty of green grass. I about killed my mother last time of heat stroke.

We were always planning on rasing a batch this year, but now I'm not sure if we're going to. I'm getting 30 straight-run chicks in April so the roos end up being our meat chickens. We did that last year and it worked out well.

I like to see our farm sort of like it's own ecosystem. We'd rather be connected to our food, so while it's not the easiest thing to do, we also feel good about where our food comes from and how it works into creating a more sustainable farm.
I think a lot of people also don't want to or won't think about what happens to the male chicks when they order females only.
