When I was 8 I was knocked down on the ice by the neighbor kid (HE double hockey sticks). Fell flat on my face with HIM and another kid on top of me. Broke off the bottom half of both new perm.front teeth. & blood stains ruined my new winter coat. Principal wouldn't let me go home until end of school day. Of course my lips and face were all swollen. Very trumatic!
Had a series temp.caps until I was old enough for permanent crowns. The front teeth have troubled me through out my life. The caps kept falling off , then I was getting pus draining. My very nice dentist(?) was a family friend but unfortunately a very poor dentist. He ignored it for 7 years(no joke).
My sister found a really good dentist and I went to him. He said I needed a root canal on one tooth and would make a db.crown (one piece) for the 2 teeth. He did a fantastic job , let me pay him monthly $ 50. I worried about paying him off so was sending $ 100 instead. I got him paid in full AND he retired.
.
I still have the teeth crowned that he did. BUT, the gums have receded quite a bit so it seems like one crown especially is hanging by a thread. (meanwhile went through 2 more bad dentists) and started a third. This one says the tooth will fall out any minute and I will need a root canal for the other . I told him I couldn't afford it - so for a few years now he keeps moving the tooth back & forth hoping it will fall out. Knock on wood, it's hanging on.
Every time I go in(twice a year) dentist gives me an estimate for a partial bridge that will have to involve 3 teeth or more because all my teeth are pretty loose now.My insurance will only cover a max. of $ 1500 for the year. I would have to match that & any more over that amount.
All because some (NOT nice) kid knocked me down. at 8 years old. I am 70 BTW till her dying day his mother insisted it wasn't him. I was there, she was not.
So I have been scared to death of ice, and kids running behind me from 8 yrs. old to present.
