I would think there must be a way to use natural chemicals or soaps depending on what bugs are around.

That's what I thought too!

There are trunk protectors now to keep the bugs from getting into the vines.
Blue is best as it promotes faster growth. And then you can let the birds eat the bugs or use a soap spray.

Thanks! What's blue? A brand?

Do grapes require pesticides? I wanted some but my dad said they require too many pesticides.
depends on the kind and where you are.

My dad's mom had 1 huge wild Spanish (just for jelly, to tart to be table grapes) and one fancy table grape (don't remember what kind)

She never sprayed stuff. That Wild Black Spanish always had a huge load! (as long as you got them before the birds) The table grape vine would have anywhere from zero to 3 clusters. :lau and it was way older than I was.

But... it didn't die. And every so often my grandfather wold oops and mow it to ground level with the lawn mower. So, pretty impressive it even lived.

When they reach 35 years old. :he

:lau

I think it depends on the kid.

kid 1 is fine and always has been (except for age 10 months until age 4. A bit of a rough patch around age 14, but shorter than a year)

2 has always been an eyeroll. but wowsers can he turn on charm when he wants to.

3, and 5 are almost as easy as 1 was

4 is one of those quiet but deadly stealth ninjas. You think things are great... but then you are surprised by walking into a kill zone. I think he is working through it. I am hoping when he is 14 that will be worked out.
