BYC Café

I heard something on NPR years ago about a woman in Colorado who rented out her goat herd. Parts of the state are having a horrible thistle problem (Alberta thistle). It's next to impossible to kill and has extremely long roots. Farmers and ranchers would contact this woman for help. She would calculate how long her herd would need to be put in a given area and then take them there. Goats prefer coarser food, so they would eat the thistle and leave the grass. Once the thistle was eaten, she'd remove the herd.

Morning! Coffee is much appreciated. The lamb is standing well and moving around and trying to figure out how to nurse off of mom. He is just so tiny that he has a hard time with the teats, but I did manage to get him on one for a few pulls so fingers crossed that by the end of the day, he will have it. He now definitely knows what a bottle is and I am hoping he is not lazy. I didn't have to sleep in the barn last night!
good news!

wonders never cease with the glory of seeing the wildlife.. I am getting nervous the property behind has been blackberry land our time here.. recently there has been a excavator up there clearing the blackberries brush and trees one word out new owner want to have tree farm there great another says sell off two parcels to builder going to talk to the new mayor who I really do not care for real soon here

Well, he is a rabid nurser when I help him get going. I did give him a bottle just now so that I can get some sleep and not worry. DS$ is off to Dodge City tomorrow for a weekend tournament and he also got asked to the OTC camp here in July. I think he will do the camp instead of going to Atlanta. Way more bang for the buck!
I will get the coffee going around 3...

Had a 3 turtle day, the last one is still out behind the workshop laying eggs!
I finished my double quail brooder, and have a bit more work to do on the latest bunny cage. Progress is being made. Hubby saw a pair of otters today in the river!
Do the turtle eggs hatch? Very cool!
