My mom was a great cook but, she made stew in a pressure cooker. My older sister and I would hide. Once the thingie on top blew , and my mom ended up cleaning stew off the walls, counter top and floor. Can't remember but, knowing Ma, she probably scraped it up - stuck back in a pan and served it for dinner.
Once she dropped cooked brisket on the floor, dusted it off with a napkin and said it was fine to eat. Heat kills everything but, not dust bunnies and other junk from the floor.
I would never get a pressure cooker. I tried using a crock pot for several hours but, wasn't the same. My mother used to buy much better grade meat than for stew.
No butcher shops out here and the grocery store has some really icky meat for inflated prices. Her chicken was better than anything the restaurants would offer. But, we had such tiny little chicken must have been Cornish x - five people and one little chicken.
Is it becoming clear why I prefer ice cream?
