Afternoon cafe, there's a fresh pot. Might be late for some, it's 3 pm here.
I did the grocery shopping, prepped a few things for tacos tomorrow night and made the patties for Salisbury steak tonight. Dishes are done, kitchen is clean.

Around here the bluebirds nest early in order to beat the nest site competition from tree swallows and house wrens.

I found a house wren nest inside the plastic bag of grit, outside the barn!

I found a house wren nest inside the plastic bag of grit, outside the barn!

My mother hung wash one day and left the clothes pin bag hanging out there. A wren built a nest and laid an egg there within a day.

Oh shoot! I wouldn't be able to bust up that nest, I would have to get another clothes pin bag knowing me! I've lost more hanging plants to bird nests.

She didn't, and for my German, logical, unemotional mother that was mind boggling. The wren raised her brood there, and then my mother threw the clothes pins and bag away.
