Huh?Anyone else want to join the ranks of the confused?
Goodmorning café. Hope everyone has a glorious day. A little on the cool side here yesterday, today and tomorrow but then warming back up.

Hey Pert, how ya doin today?Huh?

The specialist breed keepers know more about genetics than most of the articles I've read. It's a very well researched and published topic. However, for say land race type breeds to do the things properly you need to keep them in their natural arrangement. This is becoming more of a topic these days. Pen twenty Black Minorcans and pen breed them, they soon stop being able to forage and learn about the hazards and benefits of their environment. You may get breeds that look the part but their behavior changes and the main point of landrace breeds is they free range with minimal interference. It seems to be that way in foreign countrys. I would think the special breed keepers would be more interested in genetics or is that too deep a subject.
Still kick every once in a while just to keep people from throwing dirt over me.Hey Pert, how ya doin today?
Yup, doin good! Waiting to see if its gonna rain anymore today. We got your cool weather today, temps dropped almost 30° over night.Still kick every once in a while just to keep people from throwing dirt over me.
Trust you're doing wel.
Won't be long now we'll be fussing about the hot weather. Probably will skip spring as usual except for the storms.Yup, doin good! Waiting to see if its gonna rain anymore today. We got your cool weather today, temps dropped almost 30° over night.![]()
I moved down to the dirty deep south to escape the cold of Ohio; before I lived in Ohio I grew up in the desert SW. I love it here and am much happier in hot weather. Plus we just bought a really nice pool last summer, so we actually save a ton of money on AC by just cooling off in the pool.Won't be long now we'll be fussing about the hot weather. I have notes but honestly, it's not suitable content for BYC.I would love to have seen that! Do you have a copy of your talk that you could post, or was it something you already posted?
Well doggone! We just cant keep you outa trouble no matter what!I have notes but honestly, it's not suitable content for BYC.
I get in enough trouble with my very mild suggestions.
If BYC represents one extreme of chicken keeping, this would be the other.
A very small percentage of BYC keep, or are particularly interested in land race chickens, or 'experimenting' to see how quickly domestic breeds can become more feral. It's the opposite end of chicken keeping I'm particularly interested in and that was the basis of the talk notes.
I started one thread here a while ago questioning the wisdom of buying live chicks from breeders and hatcheries and people got very very upset.
