It will be cool to watch the process of her hatching and raising her chicks! Do you have a feeder for her anywhere close?

There's one in the backyard. I don't want to draw attention to her there so I haven't put one nearby.

We don't see hummer's till the Rose of Sharon bushes bloom - around July. Then they are constant visitors - and get Hummer moths as well

I have a red hibiscus and several aloe that get many hummingbirds. I've read that chuparosa is also something they like so I'm hoping my chickens won't eat it!

I had red hibiscus in my yard in Baton Rouge, and so many hummingbirds around. We feed woodpeckers and other bigger birds here but the ants are too persistent on the nectar feeders I just gave up. They like the lantana we have, but I hope to get more species planted this year.

My sister (NM) always had tons of hummers and especially bought plants to attract them and several feeders. Then a lot of folks started doing it and they found some feeder/s they like better. She wasn't happy about that.

I too was having a problem with ants in the hummingbird feeder till I got a cotton shoestring and soaked it in ant spray. Let it dry then use it to hang the feeder by in the tree. I usually only have to respray once during the season

That's brilliant! I will try that this season. Between hubs and I we have at least 3 feeders and more hooks around the property than we can use. I feel guilty for not feeding them, really.
