BYC Café

Morning! Congrats on the new chicks hatching, IM. We need some pics...
Hope your roo continues to improve. Maybe he is spending too much time trying to woo the ladies and forgets to eat? I know bull elk do that...
Thanks for the coffee! We fired up the log splitter yesterday and got some of next year's stack done.

That's interesting about bull elk Margie, don't think I've heard that before.

When my parents lived in Denver they used to travel some place in CO to listen to the elk during mating season. Can you hear them where you are?

Good morning, Cafe.
Thanks for the fresh pot of coffee, IM. I hope you clear the cobwebs soon.
Today is finish the roof and the framing on the clean out doors and make the final electrical connect to the coop. This time next week, I should have my new chickies!
Yay for chicks!

3 of the 6 that have hatched so far. Not sure which came from my flock but our egg hatched.

So cute! Are you keeping all that hatch IM?

Thanks, I especially love the nn babies, although I know they're not for everyone. We are keeping them all yes, for table and coop. I'm hoping for enough hens with naked necks to pair with my roo for next year.

I wasn't too sure about the looks of the NN's when first seeing them. But I've decided they are pretty cool looking (especially the chicks). And they're supposed to be good layers, bonus!

NN's are growing on me too. Maybe one day I will try some.

I have 2 hens right now that are nn and they do lay every day. They're sweet natured, even my roo is pretty easy going. Plus, in my climate I feel like these are a better choice. I lost heavily feathered birds to heat and felt pretty horrible for a while. Not asking for sympathy, just sharing a lesson learned I guess :duc
