BYC Café

Hi, im one of the newer members of about four or so days. So far ive found this site easy to navigate and very handy. Ive owned chickens for about 3 yr now with my family, and am starting my first year with ducks and ducklings now. My ranily would also pike turkeys, pigs and horses to. Currently we have 9 easter egger hens, 1 easter egger rooster called big red, and 9 black ostrolorps. We used to have one male pekin, and three female pekins, as well as one muscovy male. Now we have three brown khaki campbell female ducks, one male khaki campbell drake, four brown khaki campbell ducklings, 7 pekin ducklins, and ine muscovy pekin duckling.

Young Bracket has lost her chick.:(
Not having Blue Spot to hold them together was part of the problem. Punch, while a good rooster has always been in the shadow of Blue Spot.
In this wind it's possible the chick just got blown away. Bracket has been calling but you can't hear yourself think in the wind. Bracket has also been trying to crow. This means something, but I don't know what.
This has not been a good few days and I just feel like gathering up all the tribes, moving them into the house and shutting the door. Maybe we'll come out one day.:hmm

Matthew 28:6
6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.

Happy Easter to you all. Through all my troubles this past week, today I cannot be sad for the Lord has risen. Truly a happy day for all!

@Shadrach I don't know if this is significant or not, but I had one hen who would crow for a couple of days after every hawk attack.
It could be Mr sourland but nothing is flying here atm apart from branches and outside furniture.
I haven't seen a hawk here today and usually after a hawk attack everyoe takes cover; they all seem to know. Tribe 3 has been staggering to my house from the yard tight to the wall, which they would not do after a hawk attack.
Plant pots are a particular hazard here.:barnie
