BYC Café

I had a bison burger only once when I was a kid. I was a finicky city kid & it was too gamey for me. My dad was more than happy to eat mine plus his, so it must've been pretty good. :lau Thank Heaven for dads! :wee

I don’t find it gamey really, at least not like other game meats, just tastes like weird/slightly different beef to me, but I can see where someone wouldn’t like it. The first time I had it I didn’t want to try it, thought I would hate it, practically refused, but then I liked it lol this was recently, only like a few years ago. Now I don’t mind it. Still don’t eat it regularly, this is only like the second or third time I’ve had it, but I like it. Not my favorite though but pretty mild imo. But then again I also buy the cheap one from Walmart so maybe that’s why LOL still technically organic and grass fed I think but only like $9 for a pound of the ground bison. Maybe the expensive stuff from an exotic game meat specialty place would be more gamey as opposed to supermarket bison lol

Used to run in elementary school. But got arthritis early and switched to endurance walking. Did marathon distance many, many times but too slow for competition. Didn't matter had a wild group of followers in several suburbs and they treated me like royalty. Taking selfies, introducing their family to me. It was embarrassing.

People would stop me in grocery stores with "Aren't you the walking lady with the hat?"
The manager at my brother's grocery store came up to me, and said he knows he is late for work if he doesn't see me coming over (whatever) hill. My brother of course had s -fits . Still cannot tolerate anyone saying nice things about me. He ignores my birthday, and of course any victories on BYC.

I have seen buffalo ground beef at costco before. I need to check next time I am there.

I did "Relay for life," once- they stuck me on a team that didn't want me. You were supposed to have a team member on the track at all times. They quit as soon as it got dark and drove off. I walked the track from starting time till finish at 6 am.the next day.

It was great walking weather - actually chilly, but no sweat or mosquitoes. Plus at several stations they had put out hot chocolate, cake, cookies, candy, trail mix- no one else out to eat it. I had a banquet.

Since everyone was gone but, me I was given all the leftover, full cartons of snack cakes,
trail mix , and prizes. I got several tickets for the golf championship in another suburb with Tiger Woods at the peak of his career. Had no one to give them too. What a crime.

It was embarrassing because I wasn't the only person that walked every day . I only stood out because I either wore a big hat to protect from sunburn, or in winter a face mask.

Ahh that makes sense. Although I wouldn’t say that’s something to be embarrassed over - you were smart protecting your skin like that!!

You definitely should!! Although that said, at our wholesale club, BJ’s it’s actually more expensive for some reason. Idk how yours will be. But at ours it’s like $12! When at the grocery store near my house it’s like $10 and at Walmart it’s like $9. So I just buy it elsewhere ha but idk how your store will be. But just a heads up. I find at our club, some stuff is cheap, other stuff it’s really not that cheap or sometimes more expensive and you’re better off just getting elsewhere ha
